Help Strengthen Europe’s Marine Citizen Science Community — Take Part in Our New Survey!
Published
Sep 3, 2025
Do you coordinate a project that collects scientific data in the marine or coastal environment? If so, we’d love to hear from you! 🌊
As part of the CS-MACH1 project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, we are building a connected network of marine citizen science initiatives across Europe and beyond — to strengthen collaboration, improve data sharing, and amplify the impact of your work.
By taking just 15 minutes to complete our short survey, you will help us:
🔹 Map how marine citizen science projects collect, store, and share data
🔹 Identify challenges and needs for support or training
🔹 Explore how project data can connect to European platforms such as EMODnet, GBIF, SeaDataNet, and EDITO, and from there to global systems like GOOS and WMO
👉 Take the survey now: https://forms.gle/VbDo8nUD1iayFXnK8
Your insights will directly shape how marine citizen science can drive research, innovation, and ocean policy — while making your project part of a growing European network of data leaders.
As part of WP2, this survey has already been shared with over 1,170 marine and coastal citizen science projects across the EU and neighboring countries. By contributing — and by sharing it through your own networks — you’ll help us reach even more projects and strengthen the marine citizen science community across Europe.
Practical notes:
If you coordinate multiple projects, please complete the survey for each one.
If you are no longer the coordinator, kindly forward the invitation to the current contact.
The survey targets projects collecting marine or marine–riverine data (no freshwater-only initiatives).
All responses are confidential and anonymized according to GDPR.
