CS-MACH1 Unveils Its Visual Identity: Speed, Trust, and Connection at Sea

The new CS-MACH1 visual identity embodies the project’s mission: to empower marine citizen science through a connected, pan-European data network and web hub. Inspired by the speed of sound (Mach 1), the design reflects a swift, precise, and collaborative movement accelerating data sharing and ocean knowledge.

Its clean, modular aesthetic bridges science, society, and technology, evoking flow, connection, and trust — the principles behind FAIR and open marine data. The color palette combines deep marine blues with vibrant lime accents, symbolising the meeting of ocean depth and human energy at the center, while geometric forms and subtle wave motions recall both data streams and ocean dynamics, related to data databases.

Balancing professional clarity with grassroots inclusiveness, the identity speaks to all who take part in ocean observation: citizen scientists, researchers, institutions, and innovators working together for a smarter, fairer ocean future.
